Residential Solar

Home solar, the May way — and built to last.

We've installed thousands of residential systems across Central Florida and the Gulf Coast since 2006 — in-house, never subcontracted, with a licensed Master Electrician on every job. Lower your bill, lock in your energy cost, and keep the lights on through Florida storms.

Why Florida homeowners go solar

The federal homeowner credit ended in 2025 — but in Florida, the core economics still work. Here's why.

Lower your power bill

Offset most — often all — of your monthly electricity use, and stop renting power from the utility.

Lock in your energy cost

Utility rates keep climbing. Solar fixes a big chunk of your energy cost for decades while everyone else pays more.

Keep the lights on

Add Enphase battery backup and your home rides out hurricane-season outages — fridge, Wi-Fi, and medical equipment stay powered.

Retail-rate net metering

Florida's major utilities credit the surplus you export at the full retail rate — the quiet engine behind your savings.

Add value to your home

A well-designed, paid-off solar system is an asset buyers increasingly look for — especially with battery backup.

Real-time monitoring

See production and usage from your phone. We monitor too, so we catch issues before you ever notice them.

Tax rules change and depend on your situation — consult your tax advisor. See our guides on net metering and battery backup.

Premium equipment, installed right

We install the gear we'd put on our own homes — REC solar panels, Enphase microinverters so one shaded panel never drags down the array, and Enphase IQ batteries for storm-proof backup.

  • Premium REC panels with an industry-leading warranty
  • Enphase microinverters — panel-level output + no single point of failure
  • Enphase IQ Battery 10C & 5P for whole-storm backup
  • EV-charging-ready installations

Independent 30-Year Protection

Backed for 30 years by Solar Insure

Every May Electric Solar system can be backed by Solar Insure — an independent, third-party warranty that protects your panels, microinverters, and battery storage for 30 years, well beyond a typical manufacturer or workmanship warranty. It's the same protection we'd want on our own homes.

  • One 30-year warranty covering panels, microinverters, and battery storage
  • Covers roof penetrations — leaks at the mounting points are protected, too
  • Independent protection — your coverage stands even if an installer or manufacturer goes out of business
  • Ongoing monitoring and support for the life of the system
  • A nationwide warranty administrator trusted since 2006

How it works

We manage the whole project end to end — you make a couple of decisions, we do the rest.

  1. 1

    Free assessment

We review your roof, shade, and actual utility usage — then design a system sized to what you really need, not to maximize the sale.

  2. 2

    Design & permitting

We engineer the system and handle all permits and paperwork with your county and utility. No legwork on you.

  3. 3

    In-house installation

Our own trained crews install it — never subcontracted — under licensed master-electrician oversight.

  4. 4

    Inspection & interconnection

We coordinate the inspection and utility interconnection, and flip the switch once you're approved to operate.

  5. 5

    Monitoring & support

Your system goes live with monitoring, and we're here long after — the same local team that installed it.

What our homeowners say

Our lights stayed on through both 2024 hurricanes while our neighbors lost power — and the system covers our entire electric bill.

Ten years after they installed my system, I got same-day service. Where can you get that kind of high-touch service after 10 years? For me, it's May all the way!

Other companies gave very misleading information. May Electric gave us the truthful, correct information.

Home solar — common questions

Is there still a federal tax credit for home solar in 2026?
No. The residential federal solar tax credit (the 30% Section 25D credit) expired at the end of 2025, so there is no federal tax credit for new home solar in 2026. Be cautious of any installer still advertising '30% off' to homeowners. The good news is Florida's strong sun, rising utility rates, and retail-rate net metering still make home solar a solid long-term investment — we'll show you the real numbers for your home. Consult a tax professional about your specific situation.
How much can I save with solar in Florida?
It depends on your roof, your usage, and your utility's rates — which is why a real quote beats any online calculator. With retail net metering, a right-sized system can offset close to all of your annual electric usage, dropping many bills to just the utility's minimum connection charge. Over a 25-year system life that typically adds up to tens of thousands of dollars in avoided electricity costs.
Will my solar work during a power outage?
Only if you have battery backup. A standard grid-tied system automatically shuts off during an outage for the safety of utility crews — so panels alone won't power your home in a blackout. Adding an Enphase battery lets your system 'island' and keep your essentials running, recharging from your panels each day.
Do you use subcontractors?
Never. Every installer is a trained May Electric Solar employee, and every job has licensed master-electrician oversight. Your project is never handed off to the lowest bidder.
What areas do you serve?
We've served Central Florida and the Gulf Coast since 2006 — including Pasco, Hernando, Pinellas, and Hillsborough counties and the greater Tampa Bay area. If you're nearby, reach out and we'll let you know.
