Battery Backup
Enphase Battery Backup
Keep your home powered through Florida storms with Enphase IQ Battery backup. It's safe with LFP chemistry, modular, scalable, and recharged by your solar.

Why battery backup
What most homeowners don't understand is that without a backup battery, your Solar panels will shut off during a power outage and not produce power. This is a required safety feature that stops them from feeding the grid while power company crews work. To keep your home powered when the grid goes down, you need battery backup. We install Enphase IQ Battery systems (the 10C and 5P) that store the energy your panels make so it's there when you need it.
During an outage, a battery-equipped system safely disconnects from the grid, it happens automatically and near instantaneously, and runs your home from stored energy. During the day your panels will recharge the batteries for the next night, keeping your power on indefinately. You decide what to back up, either just the essentials (fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, medical equipment), or heavier loads such as your main house AC unit. Why we install it
Storm-season peace of mind
When the neighborhood goes dark, your essentials stay on. Fridge, lights, internet, and medical equipment keep running.
Safe, long-life chemistry
Enphase IQ batteries use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells which are thermally stable and built for a long cycle life.
Back up what matters
We help you prioritize the loads worth protecting, and you can add battery capacity to extend your runtime as far as you want.
Works with your solar
Because your panels recharge the battery by day, a sunny multi-day outage can stretch much further than the battery's raw size suggests.
Backed for 15 years
With long-lasting LFP battery chemistry, every Enphase IQ Battery carries a 15 year manufacturer warranty.

One system, designed to work together
The same microinverter technology on your roof runs inside your battery, too. Every Enphase IQ Battery has microinverters built in, so the per-unit redundancy that keeps one shaded or failed panel from dragging down your array works exactly the same way for storage: no single point of failure on the roof or in the battery. Solar, storage, and monitoring are one AC-coupled Enphase system, engineered end to end to work together. From the panels, to the battery, to the app in your hand for a truly seamless experience.

Battery Backup — common questions
- Will my house stay powered in an outage?
- With battery backup, yes. A standard grid-tied system shuts off in an outage for safety, but a battery lets your system disconnect from the grid and keep powering your home from stored energy, recharging from your panels each day.
- How long will a battery last during an outage?
- It depends on how much capacity you install and which loads you back up. Because your panels recharge the battery during daylight, runtime in a sunny multi-day outage extends well beyond the battery's nameplate size. We'll size it to your priorities.
- Can I add more batteries later?
- Yes, the system is modular. Start with backup for your essentials now and add capacity later as your needs (or budget) grow.
- What's the difference between the Enphase 10C and 5P batteries?
- Technologically they're very similar. Both use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry and have microinverters inside to convert the battery's power. The 10C has twice the capacity and twice the continuous output of the 5P, but because the system is modular you can simply use more 5P units to make up the difference. The 5P can also integrate with a generator, so when the battery runs low a compatible generator can recharge it. The 10C is installed with the IQ Combiner 6, which has a dedicated circuit for EV chargers. An EV charger can still be installed with a 5P battery, it just requires an additional circuit to be installed in your electrical box.
- Is a battery better than a gas generator?
- For most homes, yes: no fuel to store or run out of, no fumes or noise, no manual starting. If your utility has TOU (Time of use) billing, the battery can also help you avoid the higher on-peak and peak demand charges.
